GREAT WOLF DESIGN SAMPLES
A SAMPLING OF RACHEL'S WORK
Junior Chef Menu - Front and Back
First tasked with the challenge of designing a logo, I chose to highlight the face of Great Wolf Lodge: Wiley. I used free-hand illustrations to transform Wiley into a lively chef. His apron, chef's hat and iconic wooden spoon help to keep the logo youthful without alienating our tween guests. This logo allows even the youngest chefs to aspire up to greatness.
Once the logo was cemented, I moved on to revamping the kid's menu. A whitewash on the textured wood background brought new life to the menu without wandering too far from the brand identity we hold so dear. Hand drawn illustrations of the unique food creations allows the guests to visualize their upcoming meal. Games, mazes and coloring remain the focus on the backside of the menu so both parents and kids can enjoy their dining experience at the Lodge.
MagiQuest - Mood Board and Poster Concept
Alan asked me to join Jenny and Jose as we worked together to dial-in a concept for the MagiQuest rebrand. I spent time digging into the materials Jordan provided to get a better understanding of the client's needs. From there, I was able to capture the mythical side of MagiQuest while following Jordan's request to distance ourselves from the mid evil realm. My mood board resonated well with Jordan and we chose to proceed with my design. The early stages of the Poster Concept are transporting the viewer into an alternate reality-- the world we know and love as MagiQuest. Grab your wand and dive in!
Great Wolf Kids- Coloring Book
This project played to my strength: illustrating. I was able to illustrate our Great Wolf Kids in new poses and environments for the guests to color in. I got to know each character's profile and place them in scenes that illustrated their interests. Violet is an avid gardener, and Oliver loves collecting bugs. They are paired together in a gardening scene.
Snowland- Dance Poster and BINGO Card
Having been with Great Wolf for 4 seasons of Snowland, I was able to efficiently design a fresh take on collateral that was needed for fast turnaround. Sticking to the established brand standards, I implemented the Great Wolf Kids into the festive pieces.
Waterpark Logo- North Hot Springs
Illustrating a logo from scratch required pencil sketches, Photoshop rendering and vector creation in Illustrator. The North (and South) Hot Springs Logos are featured on reminder and directional signs in waterparks across several Lodges.
Style Guide- Great Wolf Kids
I eagerly took on the momentous task of designing a style guide for the Great Wolf Kids. Pantone and CMYK callouts, logo use, fonts, phrasing, and character use were established in this printed book. Internal departments and external vendors are able to pull from the guide while maintaining our brand standards.
